One Day of Rest - Part 1
|
|
I've onlyjust recently begun routinely honoring the Seventh Day Sabbath this year; since I have become more aware of the emphasis of the day and understand that obedience is a true compartment of celebrating this day set aside by YAH as the holiest day, in Genesis Chapter 1. Its significance embedded in its premise that it is a day of rest not only for me, but also for everything that I may come in contact with.
It is a day that acknowledges Creation by respecfully giving over the rightsand homage to this day back to Almighty YAH; not providing for ourselves, but allowing the true Provider (Jehovah Jireh) to supply every need in this 1 day. Making no plans for my day. Allowing the day to proceed on its own without my interjection.
In the little time that I have been acknowledging the 7th Day Sabbath, I have finally learned to "rest". As a matter of fact, I finally learned to live the definition of the word "rest". For it was only this past Sabbath that I felt the true impact of resting. I don't work a 9 to 5 like many of you may. So, you would think that I would have already known the meaning of the word, yet, I can truly say that the Sabbath rest is different from the other six days. Those days I may "nap" or delay my errands, but their thoughts and my duties are still "on my mind" (in the back of my mind) still waiting to be fulfilled.
But that 7th Day Sabbath rest is totally different. Nothing on my mind but pleasing the Father, the Creator, El Shaddai, the one who sits high and looks low as I take in the beauty of His Creations, thanking Him for each and every one.
I am not to impose on the rights of the land to "rest" as well; every seventh day, every seventh year. His word reminds us that the Sabbath “rest” allows the land and even our own bodies to recupperate, restore, replenish what was expended on those six days, that we may continue with a fresh new six days until a new Sabbath evolves. It brings to mind the reason for the condition of the earth as well as our own bodies that we have learned to medicate and exercise our infirmities away.
If man does not rest, he, nor the earth cannot replenish itself.
[Lev 26:34-35 NASB] 34 'Then the land will enjoy its sabbaths all the days of the desolation, while you are in your enemies' land; then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths. 35 'All the days of its desolation it will observe the rest which it did not observe on your sabbaths, while you were living on it.
[Exo 23:10-12 NASB] 10 "You shall sow your land for six years and gather in its yield, 11 but on the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, so that the needy of your people may eat; and whatever they leave the beast of the field may eat. You are to do the same with your vineyard and your olive grove. 12 "Six days you are to do your work, but on the seventh day you shall cease from labor so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female slave, as well as your stranger, may refresh themselves.
The results of mankind’s disobedience are seen in the deterioration of our earth today. By not resting, we have imposed ourselves on all of creation imposing our right to chose whether we should "rest" or not on animals, the land and the universe around us.
